The present work aimed to study the relationship between fingerprint pattern, sex and blood group among Hokkien population in west Malaysia. This investigation included 80 male and 80 female of the study population who were healthy and free from any deformity and disease in their hands. Following the standard procedure, fingerprints were collected and also obtained information about blood group of the subjects. The data were analysed statistically using SPSS software and frequency distribution using bar graphs. In the fingerprint pattern, the frequency of ulnar pattern is comparatively higher in ulnar loop in the study subject [Male:47.88%, Female:46.62%] followed by plain whorls [M:42.62%,F:43.5%], tented arch [M: 3.75%,F:4.62%], composite whorl [M:3.75%, F:3.63%], radial loop [M:2.00%, F:1.50%]. An O+ blood group has the highest frequency in fingerprint pattern distribution [40.0%] followed by A+ [26.9%], AB+ [13.1%], B+ [12.5%], A-[4.4%] with the least B- [3.1%]. An O blood group frequency is higher in males [43.8%] and females [36.3%] while A blood group frequency is equal in the gender [Male 31.3%, Female 31.3%]. AB blood group is the least frequency distribution in the population [Male 10%, Female 16.3%]. The present study showed the existence of relationship among blood group, gender and fingerprint pattern of Hokkien population, even though less significant but can be used independently to identify an individual.
