Abstract

The main concern regarding prediction of eye colour in forensic field is highly influenced by analysis of Bioinformatics. The objective of this study was to analyse the accuracy of eye colour prediction single nucleotide polymorphisms [SNP] sample population and to correlate bioinformatics application in forensic science field. This study was conducted using 6 HIrisplex SNP predictors which are HERC2 [rs12913832, Human Chromosome 15], OCA2 [rs1800407, Human Chromosome 15], LOC105370627 [rs12896399, Human Chromosome 14], SLC45A2 [rs16891982, Human Chromosome 5], TYR [rs1393350, Human chromosome 11], and IRF4 [rs12203592, Human Chromosome 6] of eye colour of human. The genes were categorized into 3 classes according to eye colour such as blue, intermediate and brown. Out of 6 genes, 4 SNPs were genotype and the others were phenotype. Prediction was done by using SPSS under AUC values with threshold greater than equal to 0.7. Eye colour define by production of melanin. SNP known as the difference between individuals at a single location within a DNA sequence. Allele is used to define gene variation where T is allele input. Under the receiver characteristic operating curves [AUC] as the prediction accuracy. The gene HERC2 holds 0.899 and 0.8 77 AUC for brown and blue respectively with such a standard SNP. Brown and non-brown are predicted 4 homozygote genotypes including LOC105370627, SLC45A2 [brown] while others are non-brown. Bioinformatics play a major influence in creating prediction on DNA samples in a way of identifying genetic discrepancy among humans as forensic laboratories using sequencer software to make analysis more convenient. This research shows that the HIris Plex eye colour detection approach is efficient of rapid application in investigations forensic investigation.
