Abstract

Namdeo Dhasal is a prominent voice in dalit writing, especially dalit poetry, in India, but his depiction of art seems to break all the established norms of classical and conventional writing. Each and every page of Dhasal's poetry carries half a dozen abuses and offensive words andphrases which do not suit the mainstream readers and listeners. Some critics evaluate his verse as propaganda writing and they feel that Dhasal is merely creating clamor in the serene streets of poetics. The present paper is a moderate attempt to enquire whether as a matter of fact Namdeo Dhasal is using or abusing his talent of writingpoetry.
