Feminism is a humanist principle. Tagore embodiedfeminism well in his short tales. He has shown the social malpractice of feminism in a controlled yet powerful way via different tales. Tagore's short tales are reflections of his life experiences. Tagore's tales depicted the uneven treatment meted out to women in ordinary households in Bengal during his lifetime. Women were seen as subordinate to men. Men were given every opportunity, but women were denied even the most basic. Tagore not only depicted women in agony, but also gave them a stronger hue and dealt with their inner power. Tagore sheds light on the lighter side of society, when strong-willed women broke free from society's constraints. The author allowed his heroine complete freedom to make her own choices, despite the fact that she first seemed to be crazy. Only he could have imagined such a thing in an era when women were permitted to do so in ordinary homes. Tagore was profoundly affected by his society's caste prejudice. Tagore depicted the injustice and harshness meted out to the lower castes. He reflected the events of the Bengalifamily to a large degree.
