Abstract

Gandhi was the man who believed in the reformation of the caste system. He considered that an upper caste people should accept the low caste people; there should not be untouchability in society, but the Varna system should continue. While Ambedkar completely believed in an egalitarian society and that is what state can do. He trusted that the entire Varna system should be vanished from Indian society. In his point of view, caste system can never be reformed. He accredited that caste can be annihilated. Gandhi felt that one cannot bring change in the emotion of a man by simply bringing the law in system; one should change internally in one's heart and mind. In the debate of Gandhi and Ambedkar on caste, it appears that Gandhi is more sentimental, but Ambedkar looks more rational.
