Abstract

Aligning library services to their targeted usersș needs can immensely benefit the existence of the resources present in both the traditional and digitally equipped libraries. But the resource utilization when on one hand is dependent on collection and services curated by the parent organization's mission and vision, well-informed users on facility and library services also play a significant role. Nowadays, the websites/web pages have become an essential platform to announce and inform prospective users about the happenings of the library. The base of the present study is a systematic survey of websites/web pages of 18 DST Institutionsș libraries of India based on 44 item checklists under four broad areas oflibrary facilities and services. Taking into consideration the scoring by individual website/web page a final score is calculated and ranked accordingly. The aim of this study is to analyse the contents of all the library websites/web pages under study and to find out the strengths and weaknesses among them. This study will be helpful for sound decision-making in enhancing the usability of the websites.
