Abstract

Sualkuchi is a small census town in the district of Kamrup, Assam, consisting of two revenue villages-Sualkuchi and Bamundi Sualkuchi along with the North bank of Brahmaputra near Guwahati. Sualkuchi is the busiest Silk Textile Centre of the North Eastern Region of India and it is known as the ‘Manchester of Assam'The main objective of this paper is to study the workings of the reelers of Sualkuchi and the problems that are being faced by them.
