Capacity building for panchayati Raj institutes to manage disasters

The local government is usually the first responder to any disaster at administrative level. There is a need to pay special focus on local government to manage disasters. Realizing this fact, the purpose of this paper is to connect capacity building to the local government. This paper highlighted the importance of local government in disaster management with an example of capacity building where it is successfully implemented making local government to manage disasters more comprehensively. Finally this paper also analyzes challenges in the capacity building and suggestions to improve the local government's capacity in managing disasters.
