Abstract

Investment avenue selection and holding period are very important aspects of any investment decision. In this paper attempt has been made to identify the investment preferences of various categories of investors in the mutual funds. During the study period 2006–12 sales in the Equity category deteriorated drastically while income category showing the high growth rate. Retail investors are holding their investments for longer tenure as compared to other category of investors in both equity or debt category of investments. The trend in investments and holding period can be used to identify the challenges and potential investments opportunities for the Industry.
