Abstract

In the present study an attempt has been made to analyze the economic contribution of Tourism in Jammu and Kashmir State of India. Tourism is the act of travel for the purpose of leisure, recreation, and the provision of services for this act. India is indeed an incredible country that welcomes all its guests with open arms. From the Dal Lake in Kashmir to the backwaters in Kerala, from snowcapped mountain ranges to sunny beaches, India has always attracted tourists from all over the world with plenty of opportunities for an exciting holiday. Tourism is one of the world's largest industries and one of its fastest growing economic sectors. Tourism and Kashmir both are not mutually exclusive. Both have an indissoluble relationship that has an age. Travelers came here for centuries for the holy silence, heavenly tranquility, fragrance of its flowers and to experience the most hospitable and helpful attitudes of the Kashmiri's. India's northern-most State, Jammu and Kashmir, rests like a crown on its map. The hilly plains of Jammu lie in the south; the high altitude desert region of Ladakh is in north. And in the middle, like a dazzling jewel in the crown, is the mountainous valley of Kashmir.
