Abstract

The paper analyses economic planning of India that has undertaken eleven plans, trade liberalization policy and structural reforms with the objective of expansion of industry. The study intends to investigate the question “whether there is any significant effect of economic planning on industrial growth in India. In identifying the impacts of economic planning on industrial growth are investigated eight economic plans and compare pre and post trade liberalization policy in India during 1970–2010. The descriptive analysis methods, analysis of variance, ANOVA, and T – independent test will be applied for testing hypotheses. The results show, although there is significant difference among economic plans on industrial growth but there is no significant difference between pre and post trade liberalization policy on industrial growth. In fact, the multiple comparisons among different plans show that only tenth planning has statistically significant effect on industrial growth. So, the process of economic planning did not have significant effect on industrial growth in India.
