Abstract

Management of generated industrial wastes in general and flyash from Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in particular has been a challenging task before the industry and government agencies. Inappropriate management leads to serious environmental problems in many parts of developing countries like – India. The frequent breach and leakages in ash ponds of many TPPs of Odisha has become a common phenomenon. By which flyash directly goes to paddy fields and distributory canal causing loss of crops, fertility of land and environmental pollution. It directly hit the health and economic activities of the people. The focus in this paper is to assess the flyash management of HINDALCO industry and its impact on agriculture. This study is based on the field observation, interview and analysis of media reports.
