Tamilnadu tourism – A swot analysis

Abstract

Tamilnadu State is a land of different cultures, heritage monuments, mountains, river belts, coastal lines, pilgrimage centers, world class film making studios, lush green valleys, zoo parks, hospitable peoples and variety of food habits etc. It is therefore, a fact of that the Tamilnadu has enormous tourism potential, a prospective must leverage and uphold. Tourism industry is smokeless industry, income generating industry and employment generation industry. The Tamilnadu tourism is not only selling its products and also analyze the needs, preferences and satisfactions of the tourists that it can offer. Hence, the study intension is to analyze the tourists responses with the help of questionnaires.

The study reveals that the Tamilnadu Tourism is having unique tourism offerings, even though it is not able to en cash them up to maximum level, owing to so many draw backs like in effective amenities, that is accommodation, food, cleanliness of the hotels and restaurants, services in that, transport and connectivity in certain cases it lacking. Most of the tourists responded that they would come again and again and availing their facilities means the importance of the particular tourist destinations and non other options. For instance the tourists from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka were availing the tourism packages for Ooty, Kodai, because of the natural beauty and climate of the place and there is no alternative options to the tourists not by the facilities of TTDC. The tourists believe that Tamilnadu state is having more potentiality to develop one of the best tourist destination in India and in the world, only the thing is to short out the deficiencies in all spears or in all wings.
