India is abundant of cultural and tourism attractions – more than required to make it a global tourism superpower. Tourism, as the ready tool for economic development and employment generation can be the best instrument for growth of neglected, remote and backward areas. The lack of community capacity has largely been identified as main barrier of tourism in third world countries, that local communities in most parts of the country do not play a significant role in tourism industry. Tourism with its people centric service industry outlook needs focused development and sustainability of local communities at rural/underdeveloped areas. The study takes an analysis of huge forecasts for shortfalls in human resources and seeks to solve the question that how local communities could offer a viable solution for tourism development into making the country and truly tourism rich nation.
