The objective of this study is to study the influence of leadership construct on the other constructs in the Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence Model with specific reference to private management institutions in Delhi NCR. Using a sample of 300 respondents from 32 private management institutes in Delhi-NCR region, results of regression analysis and confirmatory structural equation modeling show that Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence Model is not validated and an alternative model is proposed. The paper gives a greater understanding of the linkages between the elements making-up the Balridge Education Performance Excellence Criteria Model, facilitating the guiding role that the model plays in the implementation of quality management in private management institutes and the role that leadership plays in embedding quality.
