Profile of anthurium cultivation in mizoram - A statistical analysis

Abstract

The production of Anthurium has been one of the most reliable sources of agricultural outputs in the state of Mizoram. The product has many varieties which are mainly used in export purpose. The present study has tried to show the trend of production and collection of different varieties of Anthurium flower from 2007 to 2011 along with the degrees of significant associations among different brands of it. The study observed that the production of all categories of the flower look like bell shaped with the season June to September as the peak. The production in small varieties of Anthurium started declining from 2008 but that of large varieties rising from 2010. The scope and market of small varieties have been replaced by the large ones as the degrees of association among all large varieties are positive and significant, although in aggregate the number of all varieties is declining. The study also prescribes the state to make favourable infrastructural facilities to this sector so that it can sustain in the competitive world.
