Critical success factors in exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities in software development industry

Critical success factors are few parameters that ensure the success of organization in an industry and must be addressed for competitiveness of industry and gain competitive advantages. Today, information technology is necessary and inevitable to gain flexibility and overcome to rapid change of environment. On the other hand, Iran has a high failure rate of software projects and software development has a small share in GDP, and this indicates that managers have little attention to the critical success factors. Critical success factors of software industry are the basic parameters for development of technological entrepreneurship and exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunity in software development industry that can lead to advances in information technology. So we need to identify these factors. For this reason this research was designed. Research method is qualitative and practical. The statistical population of this research is software development companies in Tehran. After reviewing the literature and gathering research since 2000 to 2012, using meta-synthesis, interviews with experts and analysis of qualitative data, effective factors of software industry were identified, and after focus group formation, critical success factor (Project Management) was identified.
