Labours’ job satisfaction in textile and garment industries with special reference to coimbatore and Tirupur

Abstract

The global financial crisis not only influenced the decline of textile export but also has influenced the life of the textile labour as a whole. More number of textile mills is running at a heavy loss in one side and on the other side workers in these mills are ready to quit if they get a better employment and adequate compensation. If this is the case, then there arises a question on the job satisfaction of these workers. It has to be studied weather these workers are really satisfied with their present assignment or the present conditions pressurizes them to work in these mills even in the lack of job satisfaction. The main objective of this paper is to review the employment generation and income levels of the workers in the textile and garment industrial sector in the study areas.The paper also analyse the job satisfaction of labours in textile and garment industries and analyse the opinion and impact of global financial crisis in Labours life.
