Abstract

We have analyzed the interrelation among different factors of the crop insurance system with the total area of production, total production and yield rate. From the empirical analysis we have observed that the insurance participation is positively and also significantly related with the total production, yield rate, total sum insured, total number of insured farmers and price level for the rainy season paddy (Aman Paddy). Both the total production and yield rate are directly and significantly connected with the total number of insured farmers, total sum insured and price level.

The total area of Boro Paddy is negatively and as well as significantly interconnected with insurance participation, total sum insured and total premium collected. In the case of Potato insurance participation and total premium collected are indirectly interrelated with the total area of production. The insurance participation, total sum insured and total premium collected are positively and significantly interconnected with the total production for Boro Paddy but negatively and insignificantly connected with production for Potato.
