Abstract

The economy of entire world has been experiencing dramatic and momentous changes during the last two decades. But the economic reforms have never been as widespread as today. These reforms are undertaken by all countries. The term economic reforms broadly indicates necessary structural adjustments to external events. Various changes have taken place since 1991 in the policies relating to the field of trade, industry,finance,foreign investment and small scale industries which when put together effect entire economy. In 2000–01 Mr. Yaswant Sinha the finance minister presented budget in which he stated that govt. wanted to attain second generation reforms. Under second generation reforms several measures have been undertaken, which in turn would help in rapid growth of economy and also pave the way for modernization of the econmomy. Small scale industry is having key role in the industrialization of our economy. Therefore the present study analyze the impact of second generation economic reforms on Indian small scale industries. The main theme of the paper is to evaluate the performance of small scale industries before and after second generation economic reforms. To know the impact of second generation economic reforms on the performance of small scale industry. Secondary data have been collected from various department annual reports. Statistical tools like average, standard deviation, coefficient of variation and annual growth rate have been used for analysis. The period of study is 1992–93 to 2007–08.
