Abstract

Self Help Group is a unique innovation of credit delivery technique to enhance income generating activities. It has produced positive impacts on three vital areas of national development, alleviation of poverty and women's empowerment. However, literature is also found about the negative impact of micro finance vis-a-vis SHG functioning. Questions arises in mind that whether the aspects like impact on members of SHG and its involvement in larger social issues should be peripheral or core components of quality indicators of SHG. To assess relevant perception of direct stakeholders on this issue is a matter of research. In this direction sixty five variables concerning to impact of SHGs on members are identified from survey of literature. The aim of this paper is to identify the major indicators that determine the impact on members SHG and its involvement in larger social issues should be peripheral or core components of quality indicators of SHG. The scale is consisted of 65 items concerning 9 conceptual subscales which identify the impact on members & social involvement for which strong evidence was ascertained.
