Abstract

Given the key importance of leather export in economy of different countries, they have developed detailed plans to increasingly improve export of this product, so that they could continue to grow and be dynamic in leather market. Given importance of this issue, in the present research, history of leather production industry in Iran, leather production processes, and materials used in this industry are studied. Then, it discusses leather market and leather export condition in Iran, addressing obstacles to export of this valuable product, and the question why this industry is not sufficiently profitable in Iran. Export of leather in form of suitcase, shoes, outerwear and belt, which is significantly more profitable than export of raw leather, is also studied. This research aims to demonstrate that it is wrong to export raw leather as its profitable is very low compared with export of leather suitcase, shoes, etc. In the end, a conceptual model is presented based on the objectives of this research, and accordingly, applied suggestions will be provided.
