The study was limited only to the online examination application form processing for the entrance examinations conducted by one of the prestigious Universities in India. Six Sigma was applied at the university level for improving the examination application form Scrutiny process and to reduce the time taken for the Scrutiny process. The study was conducted to reduce the time taken for the examination application form Scrutiny process and thereby reducing the cost associated with it. The examination application form Scrutiny process consists of entering application number, checking the applicant's thumb impression, photo attached, demand draft/cash receipt and printing the Pre-Processing Report (PPR) or list of verification, matching the PPR elements with the various fields in the application form including serial number, application number, Centre opted etc. The entire Scrutiny process normally takes almost two months depending on various factors such as number of fields to be checked, availability of staff, Scrutiny skills of the staff, mistakes, time etc. The study finally helped to reduce the total time taken to complete the entire scrutiny process to 1398.6 hours from 2799 hours and observed a net saving of about 6.5 Lakhs.
