Abstract

This paper aims at presenting a metaphorical view by presenting phoenix in order to awaken organizations how to have an effective life. The case study of a historical event in the formation and collapse of an established organization and analysis of its survival in a new form is presented. According to the findings, the concept of death can be considered as a control for the behavior of organizations. The result of case study could prove that the desire of the Ministry of Jihad-e-Sazandegi to survive physically was the main cause of its transformation. The important point is that if organizational knowledge is properly managed, this successive birth and death would result in the development of organizational knowledge. Considering the metaphorical concept of phoenix, the death of every old entity would lead to the birth of a young and effective one.
