Agricultural sector contributes more than half of the national income. To empower agricultural sector large investments made by the government to develop rural infrastructure which increases income and demand level, the prospects are seen bright for rural India. With empowerment of rural people with education, employment, higher purchasing power, better media exposure, better connectivity with outside world, they provide a massive unexplored pool of consumers. So, for the success of rural marketing we need innovative and competitive tools and techniques for marketing the agricultural products. The present paper attempt to identify various opportunities and challenges in marketing of rural product and find out the strategies to minimize challenges and optimizes opportunities for trapping vast potential rural market.
