Investigating the entrepreneurial psychological characteristics of art students (students in the Carpet field of the Tabriz Islamic Art University)

Abstract

The art economy and commercialization of the artistic works have the potential to create added value for the country. Entrepreneurial activities, art based business start-ups can contribute to the dynamism and growth of art economy. This study with the purpose of the examining the eight psychological aspects of entrepreneurship among students of Carpet art in the Tabriz Islamic Art University by using standard questionnaires was conducted. The descriptive and statistical analysis were performed using SPSS software. The findings of this research show that among the mentioned art students, the dimensions of locus of control, activism, tolerance of ambiguity, dreaming are strong and the dimensions of risk taking, need to achievement, challenging are weak and the clearness of thought is very weak. There is the significant difference in clearness of thought, activism, challenging and dreaming between male and female students and there was no significant difference in other dimensions. Finally some suggestions have been provided to improve the entrepreneurial characteristics dimensions among art students.
