Many changes have been seen in past few decades particularly in the textile industries. As we can see Indian government aim to improve the industries particularly where the industry is having labour intensive and tried to improve the socio-economic conditions of the labours and even some of the policy measures were taken up to uplift the small and marginal and even the cottage industries. From 1948 to date many changes has been observed to stream line the textile industries.
However many agreement and arrangement are also seen in the international trade pertains to the textile industries such arrangement like Multi – Fibre arrangement from the international statutory body to make the world market for textile industries. MFA brought major improvement in Indian Textile industry. May changes are also been observed in the Indian textile industries after MFA and GATT. From this some of the question will comes, like to what extent the development or improvement in the production of the textiles in India? what would be the export trend? To answer these questions this research paper was taken up on the MFA and Indian Textile industry. The researcher has taken up to study the trend in Indian textile production, and to know the growth of the textile mills in India and finally the export trend. Some of the basic statistical tools were used like, ANOVA, trend analysis and Alpha and Beta Co-efficient were used. From the analysis it was found that there is much improvement in the overall textile industries in India in terms of production, mill establishment and finally the exports. Thus, it can be inferred that MFA is having its own impact on the Indian textile industry.
