Abstract

Recently, crimes at the global level is on the rapid rise which has created too much fear and anxiety among the people. The destructive and inhumanitarian activities of criminals have created so many social, economic and political problems to the humanity. The present paper is concerned with the study of the nature of transition of crimes in Asia. Using three variables of crimes and with the help of factorial multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), the paper attempts to answer a question whether there is a significant effect of poverty gap, low GDP per capita, low adult literacy rate, high inequality in distribution and high youth unemployment on the growth of crimes in Asia during 2003 to 2012 and shed some light for crime management. The significance of poverty gap, Inequality index, GDP per capita and youth unemployment on the growth of crimes is confirmed using MANOVA test statistics
