Productivity of Indian Commercial Banks in E-Age

Abstract

The productivity of any service depends on the technology it incorporates in its operations. The impact of technology adoption is always seen as great extent in the positive direction in any field. A great result can also be seen in the banking sector also. The information technology was adopted by all the banking sector in India in the Start of 21st century. Prior to adoption of information technology the whole work was done manually and the procedure was time consuming. With the help of computerization in banking sector the productivity of all the operational activities was enhanced. All the banking sectors i.e public, foreign and private sector banks got benefitted for the technology incorporation. In this study the productivity of private banking sector is discussed with respect to input in the form e-delivery channels which were initiated in the IT era. E-delivery channels kept on providing new facilities to increase the productivity which leads to fasten the operational activities, online transactions, data maintenance etc. various results of the productivity of banks under study are discussed in this study.
