Study on Principal's Perception on Skill Development Programmes in School Education

Abstract

The main goal of the skill development programme in computer science is to provide hands-on-experience to school students from 5th Std onwards at selected schools of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. The head of the school i.e., Principal/Head Master plays a vital role to execute the skill development programme on computer science under the umbrella of SUITS (School-University Industry-Tie-up Scheme). Assessment and feedback act as an important role in the field of skill development. Feedback provides opportunities to develop professional assessment among teachers in which the students would be enacting in their professional roles. Hence, the study was undertaken to find out the principal's perception on skill development programme operationalized at their respective schools in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. A sample of 269 respondents was involved in the study. Survey method was used with help of structured questionnaire as research tool. The major findings highlighted that, there are significant interrelationship among the perception of the respondents on skill development programme.
