The Role of Social Network on Knowledge Sharing System of an Organization-A Conceptual Framework

Abstract

Knowledge sharing is an important part of knowledge management of an organization. It is a voluntary process that cannot be forced. This activity consists of exchanging information among individuals in an organization. Knowledge sharing comprises three dimensions, viz. individuals, organizational climate, and information & communication technology. The individual is the most critical and crucial factor in knowledge sharing activity and must be understood in studies of knowledge sharing behaviour. Organizational climate is another important factor that impacts knowledge sharing activity in that it influences individual attitude towards knowledge sharing. Information & communication technology is a basic tool that drives knowledge sharing. This study also investigates the effect of social network on knowledge sharing in an organization and provides theoretical support on the influence of social network at the individual level, organizational climate and information and communication technology
