The rural unemployment is the one of the major problem in India. The lack of employment of opportunities in rural led migration to urban cities. To address this problem and generate employment and control rural migration, the government of India has introduce Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in 2005 and it's enforce into 2006. The major objective of the MGNREGA is the generate 100 days of employment with guarantee in rural areas. The aim of the paper is to analyse the performance of the programme in the Andhra Pradesh state during 2006 to 2011. The study based on the secondary data source.
