Employee Training in Engineering Industries; A Cross-Case Approach

Abstract

Training is the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies. Training has specific goals of improving one's capability, capacity, and performance. It forms the core of apprenticeship and provides the backbone of content at institutes of technology. In this paper an attempt is made to study the training and development practices adopted in three selected Engineering Units located in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. For achieving the above said objectives the data was collected with the help of interview and filed observation. The study mainly employed cross-case analysis approach for contrast and comparison of training and development practices. Finally, the collected data is presented in cross case matrix.
