Abstract

Deltamethrin resistant strain of Tribolium castaneum was obtained in six generations, when pest population collected from godowns of Food Corporation of India, was exposed to 70% selection pressure of deltamethrin in each successive generation in insecticide-charged flour medium. Starting with 5 ppm concentration of detlamethrin in wheat flour medium for first progeny, the concentrations of insecticide for successive generations were increased subsequently, reaching a level of 200 ppm for the six genenition. The level of deltamethrin resistance in T. castaneum after six generations of selection was 78.6 folds.
