Abstract

Avoidable losses in grain yield due to mustard aphid (Lipaphis erysimi) were assessed in four varieties of karan rai, ethiopian mustard (Brassica carinata) as compared to indian mustard (Brassica. juncea) var. varuna. Incidence of aphid was significantly reduced in the crops protected with three foliar sprays of insecticide, phosphamidon/dimethoate 0.04%. As a result, grain yield was significantly increased in protected plots as compared to control. A net profit of Rs. 2310 in HC-1, Rs. 3025 in JTC-46, Rs. 3179 in JTC-21, Rs. 4257 in JTC-18 and Rs. 5478 in varuna was earned due to protection of crop with three foliar sprays of phosphamidon/dimethoate 0.04%, the ICBR 4.93, 5.13, 6.53 and 8.11 were worked out in respective cultivars.
