In order to search new ecofnendly heterocyclic pesticide molecules, substituted isoxazoles, pyrazoles and pynmidines were synthesised in the laboratory and characterised by physico-chemical techniques. These compounds were evaluated for insecticidal activity against adults of red flour beetle, Tribohum castaneum and plant growth regulatory (PGR) activity against mustard, Brassica juncea seedlings. Though devoid of insecticidal activity, some of these compounds exhibited auxin type PGR-activity like increased the growth of the seedlings at concentration around 0.01% level whereas, above 0.2% resulted stunting.
