Abstract

The susceptibility parameter viz. egg laying, adult emergence, mean developmental period and growh index value varied significantly among seven stored pulses over three seasons studied. In free choice and no choice test maximum egg laying were recorded on red gram (Cajanus cajan) and bengal gram (Cicer arietinum) followed by cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) while higher % ofadult was recorded from gass pea (Pisum arvense) and green gram (Phaseolus aureus). The total developmental period was prolonged in pea (Pisum sativum) (37.7 and 37.7 days in free choice and nochoice test respectively) thereby, lower growth index value. Highest mean egg laying was recorded during rainy season (72.9 and 82.9 in free choice and no choice test respectively) which also resulted in higher adult emergence.
