Abstract

The seed oils of Thevetia nerifolia and Ricinus communis and their esterified products were evaluated for the nematicidal properties against J2 of Meloidogyne incognita and pre-adults of Rotylenchulus reniformis in vitro. Esterification enhanced the activity of oils as compared to oil emulsion tested against both the nematode species. One hundred % mortality was observed in esterified Ricinus oil against M. incognita and R. reniformis at 250 ppm for 72 hours exposure as compared to 53–69% in oil emulsion at the same concentration and exposure period.
