Ten test hosts were taken and screened to adjudge the host suitability of Caryedon serratus, Tamarindus indica was classified as most suitable host for its development. In free choice test, Myristica fragarans was preferred by bruchid for egg laying, while Elettaria sardanium was the least preferred test host. The oviposition preference had no relation with development of the bruchid. The adult emergence was maximum on T. indica and minimum on M. fragrans. No adult emerged on Cocos nurifera, Vitis vinifera and Phoenix dactylifera. These were completely unfit for development of the bruchid.
