Abstract

Seven maize varieties influence on the biology of khapra beetle, Trogoderma granarium was studied at 35 ± 1°C, R.B. 70 ± 2% and 2: 14.0% grain moisture. Significant varietal differences were observed in incubation, larval, pupal and total developmental period. Resistant varieties exhibited longer incubation, larval, pupal and total developmental period while the duration was shorter in susceptible maize varieties. Male exhibited less number of larval instars (3–5) as compared to female (4–6). Males had shorter longevity than females.
