Abstract

Two new species Mylonchulus lacumurus n.sp. and Ironus iarius n.sp. were described from rhizosphere of Solanum melongena and Benincasa cerifera. M. lacumurus was characterised by having body length (L) = 0.82–1.06 mm, a = 21–27, b = 3.2–3.7, c = 21–27, V = 55–59, tail length = 35–45 11m, clavate tail, buccal cavity with eight rows of denticles, presence of subventral teeth and amphid located at 6–8 11m from anterior end, the new species was distinctive from closely related species, Mylonchulus lacustris (Cobb in Cobb1915) Cobbl917 and Mylonchullis amurus Khan and Jairajpuri 1979. 1ronlls iarius n. sp. was characterised by having body length = 1.6–1.76 mm, a=43–49,b =5.5–6.3,c =3–4,V =58–59,lip region width = 14–15 11m, stoma length = 78–90 11m, nerve ring located 114–130 11m from anterior end, excretory pore located anterior to cephalic setae, 23–28 11m long rectum, elongate conoid tail and absence of crystalloid bodies and spermatheca. The new species is distinguished from closely resembling species Iron us indicus Sharma and Saxena (1980) and 1ronus sphincterus Ebsary (1985).
