Studies were undertaken on eight test crops and two weeds during kharif and rabi seasons with aqueous extract of leaves and underground parts (roots + rhizomes), infested soil and soil incorporation of thatch grass to assess the allelopathic effects on seed gemlim dull and growth of seedlings. Seed germination of all the test crops and weeds was suppressed by aqueous extras of leaves and underground parts, infected soil and soil incorporation of-thatch grass. Maximum reduction in seed germination was noted in Echinochloa colonum with leaf extract. Seedling height of most the kharif crops and weeds was reduced, whereas reverse results were observed with rabi season crops and weeds.
