Slow rusting was recognized during epidemics. A need of a fast ruster stock had always been felt to be used as a contrasting parent for the genetic analysis of slow rusting phenomenon and its components. Five local wheat cultivars, namely, Agra Local, Kharchia Local, Kathia Local, Malvi Local and Pissi Local were evaluated for their slow rusting components in glass house and for the AUDPC under field conditions, respectively, Pissi Local and Kharchia Local performed better over the presently used fast ruster, Agra Local, in slow rusting studies both in terms of slow rusting components and AUDPC.
