The population of Drechslera sorokiniana estimated in soil samples collected at Pusa (Bihar), varied from 2.3 to 3.3 cfu in 10−2 dilution and survived for more than 12 months under natural conditions. The pathogen was able to survive in infected wheat stubbles stored at 4°, 15° and 28°C. The maximum survival of D. sorokiniana was recorded at 28°C (9.0 cfu in 10−2 dilution) as compared to 15°C (6.0 cfu) and 4°C (3.3 cfu). Based on host range studies conducted with 21 weed species, Phalaris minor and Avenafatua proved as collateral hosts of D. sorokiniana. The pathogen could also infect Allium canadense udner artificial inoculation.
