Precisely planned nematological techniques were used for detection of nematodes associated with imported germplasm, of agri-horticultural crops. Laboratory examinations revealed the presence of nematodes within seeds/just under the seed coats, in soil clods as contaminant of seed soil attached to plant roots, vegetative propagules and in packing material. Interceptions (from the planting material/seeds samples of non-Indian origin) of quarantine importance included Anguina tritici, Aphelenchoides besseyi, A. fragariae, A. ritzemabosi, Ditylenchus angustus, D. destructor, D. dipsaci, Heterodera goettingiana, H. humili, H. schachtii and Rhadinaphelenchus cocophilus. Except for Anguina tritici and Aphelenchoides besseyi, rest of the nematode species are not reported to occur in India.
