Abstract

The seed dress with thiamethoxam 70 WS @ 5 and 4 g ai/kg seeds were very effective in reducing shootfly dead hearts with 9.6 and 13.6% respectively as against 60.3% in standard check-soil application of carbofuran 3G @ 3 g/m row. The grain yield in the respective treatments was 31.54, 30.00 and 17.12 q/ha. Thus, the seed dress with thiamethoxam 70 WS @ 4 and 5 g ai/kg seeds proved to be best for the management of shootfly and afforded highest protection of 85.0 and 89.4%, respectively over control. Thiamethoxam 70 WS at any of the dosages tested, did not show any deleterious effects on seedlings by recording non-significant differences in respect of plant stand.
