Abstract

Effect of cadusafos, NPK and FYM on soil nematode populations was monitored in a field trial conducted with Azad T-2 tomato as the ensuing crop in winter. The study showed that cadusafos proved promising against both ecto- and endo-parasitic nematodes in soil. Application of cadusafos in the planting furrows @ 1.0 kg a.i./ha provided initial plant protection against plant parasitic nematodes for more than a month and kept the soil population suppressed for the cropping season. Cadusafos was more effective when applied with NPK than FYM in affecting the multiplication factor of the nematodes. The nematicidal application did not adversely affect the population of free living nematodes in soil. Higher rate of NPK (50, 100 and 50 kg/ha) and FYM (20 tons/ha) application did not influence the nematicidal efficacy of cadusafos.
