Abstract

Cultivar Bahar undergone two flushes of podding, one prior to cold spell (2–3 standard week) and other at the post (8–10 standard week). Interestingly, the critical pod stage coincided with the peak egg lying of this insect. The major contribution of pod setting was attributed to second flush (8–10 standard week). However, cv. Narendra Arhar 1 showed the main flush of pod setting between 8–11 standard weeks. Dimethoate spray schedules on these two cultivars based on these correlations showed a significant reduction in the pest population.
