Abstract

A field trial was carried out to test the different insecticides against cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae on mustard. There were four insecticides viz., endosulfan 35 EC, cypermethrin 20 EC, monocrotophos 40 EC and chlorpyriphos 20 EC each @ 0.01, 0.03 and 0.04%. At 0.04, 0.03 and 0.01% concentrations, cypermethrin was found to be more effective by reducing 77.5, 67.4 and 59.2 and 69.6, 58.6 and 49.3% aphid population over control during 2003 and 2004, respectively, which was higher the rest of the test insecticides. After 12 days of spraying, monocrotophos was least effective by reducing 59.4, 63.4 and 53.1 and 60.4, 52.3 and 49.2% aphid population over control during both the years, respectively. Highest yield was recorded in cypermethrin treated plots. (13.2 to 46.67% higher than control).
