Abstract

In vitro study was conducted to test the effect of humic acid on egg hatching and juvenile mortality of root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita at four different concentrations viz., 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4%. Lowest number of juveniles hatched and highest number of dead juveniles were recorded at high concentration of 0.4%. Two glass house studies were carried out to test the effect of humic acid as soil application and root dipping against M. incognita on tomato. Humic acid when applied as root dipping at higher concentration of 0.4% significantly increased the plant growth parameters of tomato and also reduced the number of galls and egg masses/plant and final soil population of the nematode.
